The natural and historical heritage on the one hand, the active cultural life and the special leisure facilities on the other, offer a wealth of opportunities to discover the unique charm of the Hochwald. Wadern looks back on an eventful history, which is characterised by the Dagstuhl manor. The castle ruins and Dagstuhl Castle, for example, are traces of the times of the knights and counts and have become centres of attraction for history buffs of all ages. Wadern is the major shopping, commercial and service centre in the Hochwald. The centre of town life is the market square, where an extensive cultural programme is offered in summer. Despite all its urban attributes, Wadern has retained its rural charm in a varied low mountain range landscape.
This e-bike tour leads from the starting point at the market square in Wadern into the lovely Löstertal valley. In Rathen, the Eisbach llamas are waiting for a short visit. From here, the route leads via Oberlöstern up to the Gallo-Roman monumental burial mounds. A truly mystical place in a dreamlike landscape. On the ridge between Löstertal and Wadrilltal lie the witnesses of the ancient past: two rare Gallo-Roman burial mounds, which were reconstructed in 2000/2001. From this burial site of a noble lord of the manor from the 2nd century AD, the view sweeps far across the countryside. The trail now leads via Wadrill, where it is worth making a detour to the Hochwald-Alm, to Reidelbach. Above the village, the Weinburg hikers' hut offers a lovely rest stop with a panoramic view over the Hochwald. The trail continues via Wedern and Morscholz to Lake Noswendel with its small leisure centre. An absolute highlight is the refreshments organised by the local heritage and tourist office at the lake - especially on Sundays, when the large cake buffet is served. After a ride through meadows and fields, the next stage destination is Nunkirchen. . Here the Forsthof and the game reserve with its beautiful beer garden and Weiherhof golf park with its panoramic restaurant terrace await. Directly behind the game reserve, one of our gourmet stops with regional products invites you to take a break.
The route then continues along the young Prims via Büschfeld and Bardenbach to Dagstuhl Castle with the castle chapel and the castle gardens of the "Gardens without Borders" project, which are well worth seeing. The castle ruins above still convey an authentic medieval flair today. The tour ends back at the market square. Various enjoyable refreshment stops round off this tour.
